‘ICONS’ is the debut show from Analogue’s sister company The Hang Gang - Visual Culture Outlet based in Leeds, UK. We have gathered together the best of british toy customisers, from legends such as Pete Fowler and Matt Lunartik Jones to nu-school stars Jon Paul Kaiser, Squink and Map Map, for a group event of immense proportions. Also by special invitation we had US super talent Drilone and from Germany, the awesome Bruno Orbit. The Anchoring theme of the show was simply ‘Icons’ and we left how that’s interpreted firmly in the hands and minds of the artists.

We collaborated with the amazing, Leeds based illustrator, Drew Millward to produce the show artwork. It was printed by the team over at whiteduckscreenprint.co.uk, as an A2, 3 colour screen print with an edition size of 100. The limited edition prints are still available to purchase at www.thehanggang.co.uk.

Starring: Pete Fowler, Jon Paul Kaiser, Sourbones, Okkle, Matt Lunartik JOnes, Guy McKinley, Mimic, Robotboy, Drew Millward, Hugh Rose, Mr Gauky, Squink!, Matthew Bromley, Map Map, A Little Stranger, Stuart Witter, Tom J Newell, The Tarantulas, Godmachine, Drilone, Run DMB & Bruno Orbit.

Located in the centre of Chapel Allerton, The Hummingbird Kitchen & Bar is a place thats really setting the standards. Evolved from the former Angels Share, and brought to you by the team behind the legendary Jake’s Bar, they’ve distilled all their collective knowledge into their newest hangout, a three tiered celebration of everything they love about food, drink, fun and most importantly their little corner of Yorkshire. We handled all creative direction and worked closely with the team of fitters, fabricators and interior designers, to develop the Hummingbird’s image and brand. We also followed this through online handling both the digital design and build of their website.

In the age of digital music, Lisn asked us to design and produce something physical that could be posted to potential clients and reflect their cutting edge and forwarding thinking approach to music synchronisation. The end product consisted of a fold out mailer which housed a cd and doubled up as a stylish print.
Lisn are quickly becoming leaders in synch, bespoke composition and music supervision, they are also attracting big labels such as ATM which is home to the likes of ‘Swedish House Mafia, ‘Dirty South’ and ‘Alex Metric’.

The Uk’s best free music event, Radio 1′s Big Weekend has just taken place in Carlisle. Uber hosted 2 legendary nights to mark this occasion featuring some of the best DJ’s on the planet and included Calvin Harris recording the essential mix live from the club. The artwork focused around Ubers under pinning theme, robots, we crafted this beast in Cinema 4D and applied additional effects in photoshop. Both events sold out and people queued around the block for hours to be involved in the biggest party carlisle has ever seen!

We posed the question to our team members; how can we show ‘Analogue’ in a new light and visualise what the word means to us? With the aim to take Analogue in a fresh direction for 2011, we spent December designing, deliberating, crafting and creating and we couldn’t be happier with the end result. We decided to go back in time to where digital-graphic design all started, 1984 with the birth of the ultimate machine, the Apple Mac.
To pay homage to this wonder of technology we painstakingly crafted an original 1984 Macintosh 128k out of cardboard, accompanied by some other iconic elements. After four days of labour intensive paper engineering and far too many cups of coffee, it was time to take our cardboard creations off for a photo shoot. We opted for a background which can only be described as ‘YELLOW’ and after a fun afternoon of posing, pondering and repositioning, we captured these beautiful images.

Two years in the making, this is Analogue’s latest venture. The Hang Gang is an online store that sells designer toys, t-shirts, books and lifestyle products. Later this year it will be expanded further to host virtual art exhibitions curated by Analogue and will showcase some of the hottest graphic artists and illustrators from around the world. Getting the branding right was paramount but the quirky characters that were developed from scratch are now firmly part of the Analogue family and feature on numerous items such as parcel tape, stickers and t-shirts.
